It's almost... HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Since I last wrote I’ve been from Italy to Arizona, and am now back in NYC.  Due to endless hours spent in the air I’ve had a chance to read every magazine under the sun and I must confess that I’m a little bit biased towards this month’s House & Garden and Elle magazine, both of which feature fabulous stories on HOLLYWOULD’s favorite starlet-slash-fashion-icon, Chloe Sevigny.

Oh, do we love Chloe.  Not only is she fashion’s biggest influencer and Hollywood’s hottest star (and has a lovely townhouse which you can see in House & Garden), she is also an avid fan of the HOLLYWOULD ballet, which she sites as her “must-have shoe” in both magazines.  We take this as a huge compliment coming from a girl who practically has to duck from having so much Lanvin & Balenciaga thrown her way, and we’re truly honored that she would mention HOLLYWOULD in both magazines.  Thank you Chloe for looking so effortlessly chic & gorgeous all the time, and for mentioning HOLLYWOULD as your favorite, because you’re ours!

And speaking of favorites, we’ve got a new Customer of the Month!  This month’s CUSTOMER OF THE MONTH award goes to Laura, a fabulous HOLLYWOULD girl who wore our Blue/Green Queen pumps (see right) to host her father’s 60th birthday at The Maritime Hotel.  We think The Maritime Hotel is a fantastic place for a 60th birthday if you’re very young at heart, and we’re sure Laura looked head-to-toe divine in her glittery pumps.  For being so divine and sending us a photo & email to tell us about it, Laura wins a $150 Gift Certificate to the HOLLYWOULD store! Congratulations Laura and Thank You for wearing HOLLYWOULD in style!

If you would like to be our next HOLLYWOULD CUSTOMER OF THE MONTH, send a photo of yourself in HOLLYWOULD to shop@ilovehollywould.com today, and be sure to title your email CUSTOMER OF THE MONTH!

PS – In case you don’t already have your New Year’s Eve outfit, I highly recommend a pair of glittery pumps with our little black or pearl dress...They’re all on sale!

New York City

Well girls, before I tell you about my Friday night, which entailed hitting not only the Botanical Gardens Winter Wonderland Ball, but also new hotspot The Beatrice Inn and later, much later, Bungalow 8, I have something much more important to announce...

Last night I headed to our Nolita shop to check out our annual "HOLLYWOULD INSANE SALE", and girls, it is truely insane.  We've had many a sale in the past, but this one tops them all and I found shoes, bags, and dresses at prices our factories wouldn't even allow.  I ended up getting 1 dresses, 4 pairs of shoes, and 2 handbags for the regular price of just one dress, so when I say it's "insane", I ain't kidding.  The sale officially starts today and goes through Saturday, and you'd be crazy not to check it out.

Word on the street is that they will be putting out different merchandise each day, so coming back 3 days in a row is a very good plan.  And... you can also buy a limited selection online, so if you aren't in NYC you can still shop 'til you drop without having to leave your desk.

See you at the sale!

New York City

I have just picked up my copy of Splendora’s new “Handheld” book, which outlines everything fabulous to see, do, and buy in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and NYC.  This isn’t just your run-of-the-mill shopping guide, because while it does cover every fantastic store under the sun (including HOLLYWOULD), it also covers magnificent spots you might never know about, like the best shop to buy cheese in NYC, the best place to buy linens in LA, and the best spot to take cooking classes in San Francisco.  It’s like having a built-in concierge in all three cities, and I’ll be giving it as a Christmas gift to everyone I know who loves to live in style.

Speaking of Splendora.com, you’ll want to register on their site today if you haven’t already.  We tell the girls at Splendora all of our deepest HOLLYWOULD secrets, like when we get in limited edition items, when we’ll be having invite-only sample sales, and the latest HOLLYWOULD celebrity scoop.  Sometimes the only way to know these things is to find out from Splendora, so register today so they can keep you in the loop.

And, while we’re on the subject of holiday gifts, fabulous firms like Blue Sky Communications have been giving HOLLYWOULD ballets as gifts to all of their favorite female clients and as you can imagine, the girls are thrilled.  Girls, no one wants a Rudolph Coffee Mug, Santa Snowglobe, or Light-Up Menorah Sweater, so why not give HOLLYWOULD ballets or better yet… forward your boss this link as a holiday hint!

NEW YORK CITY

As you can see from the photos right, last weekend HOLLYWOULD joined forces with the fabulous Whitehall Society to throw a Thanksgiving Weekend bash at the historic Flagler Museum in Palm Beach.  If you’ve ever been to Palm Beach chances are you’ve seen this gorgeous Gilded Age mansion-turned-museum, which was described in a story in the New York Herald in 1902 as "More wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world..."  Needless to say, the fact that they even allowed our drinkin’, dancin’, rebel-rousing crew to have a party in this 55-room, 60,000-square-foot waterfront palace gave us plenty of reason to be thankful that evening.

And what an evening it was!  A warm breeze, swaying palms, over 400 amazingly chic guests, a fabulous open bar, plenty of HOLLYWOULD girls, a DJ who knew exactly when to put on Gold Digger, and just enough Eurotrash* to insure a kickline and all-night dancing.

Big, huge, gigantic shout-out to The Whitehall Society and The Flagler Museum for letting HOLLYWOULD be a part of your event, to all of our hot HOLLYWOULD hostesses for turning out in style, to Moet Hennessy for making sure the party rocked, and to Elite Traveler Magazine for giving us something fabulous to read in our beds the next morning.  THANK YOU!!!

Having taken a full week to recover from our soiree, I gingerly stepped out last night to attend the screening of Will Smith’s new movie, The Pursuit of Happyness, which is a holiday Must-See.  So good.  It is truly one of the best movies I’ve ever seen and is so inspiring and eye-opening that I think it should be required viewing for everyone in America.  What a film!

The screening took place at The Beekman Theater, where we all cried so hard our mascara ended up at our chins.  Afterwards we headed to dinner at the Four Seasons with party host Will Smith, his wife Jada, & son Jaden (who also stars in the movie and is amazingly adorable), as well as co-star Thandie Newton, and Eva Mendes, Kyle McLaughlin, Rachel Roy & Damon Dash, Andre Leon Talley, Gina Gershon, Al Sharpton, Bernadette Peters, and Hugh Jackman, to name a few.

I’ve been to many a celeb-studded party in New York, and it’s usually a bunch of stars standing around for photo-ops, checking their watches, and everyone just dying to go home.  I don’t know what was different about last night, but perhaps it was the movie that put everyone is holiday spirits and kept the star-studded crowd mingling and laughing until the Four Season’s staff practically had to give us last-call.  Everyone remarked that it was the best screening they’ve been to in a very long while, and that they couldn’t have enjoyed the evening more.  Big thank you to the evening’s organizer Peggy Siegal, who really knows how to make an industry event fun.

And last but not least, I can’t tell you the exact details because it’s still Top Secret, but if you aren’t receiving our weekly HOLLYWOULD emails you may want to register as a HOLLYWOULD “VIP” this week. Trust me, you will be thanking me profusely by the middle of December, so register today!

*For me, “Eurotrash” is always a term of extreme endearment, so take no offense because I love you.
