October 25th 2006 I have just come from a fabulous lunch at the Core Club to celebrate Alicia Drake’s new book The Beautiful Fall. For those of you who don’t know, there has been un petit scandale surrounding this book, which chronicles the 1970’s heydays of Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent in And while we’re on the subject of fabulous books, I am currently reading Tom Sykes new novel What Did I Do Last Night?, which I highly recommend to anyone looking for a good read. Tom just happens to be the brother of Bergdorf Blondes writer Plum Sykes, children’s wear designer Lucy Sykes, and former HOLLYWOULD PR star Alice Skyes. And, fantastic siblings aside, Tom’s new book is a phenomenal memoir about everyone’s favorite subject: booze. I started it on my way to the office yesterday and got so caught up I almost rode the train all the way to October 23rd 2006 I propose that weekends should all be 3 days long. Just as you feel like you’re finally recovering from Saturday night, Monday rolls around and it’s like the weekend never even happened. I’m not proposing that the work week be shortened to less than 5 days (because 4 day work weeks are for slackers), but what I do propose is that weeks be 8 days long instead of 7, hence giving us all a 3 day weekend. Let’s put it on the ballot. Speaking of Saturday night… my evening began with a fabulous dinner with Recently I’ve enjoyed pigging out much more than usual thanks to Fall fashion trends like the oversized sweater & babydoll dress. These looks make it extremely easy to hide a multitude of sins, and me and all of my friends have remarked that it’s been nice to be able to look cute while devouring forbidden things like S’mores Pizza before a night on the town. The only problem with this philosophy is that there are occasions (like a wedding in Anywho, from L’Asso we headed to The Gramercy Park Hotel, which has recently been renovated by Ian Schrager. I happen to be a girl who likes old fashioned hotels with marble and gold gilt, so I’ve never been a huge fan of Ian Schrager’s stainless steel approach. Nevertheless, despite the fact that I do consider the renovations of the Gramercy Park Hotel an complete & utter tragedy, the bar inside is actually fabulously cozy and the clientele thus far makes it the hottest place in town. Other bar guests included thespians Naomi Watts & Liev Schreiber, rock royalty Sean Lennon & Theodora Richards, and a gaggle of downtown’s current “it” kids. From The Gramercy we headed to Double Seven which was so packed we made a u-turn quickly, but not before winking at LL Cool J as we headed out the door. Perhaps he’s still looking for an Around The Way Girl? From Double Seven we headed to Pink Elephant to meet up with more friends, and there the party was really rocking. I have long sought to find a club in NYC that could replicate the Eurotrash atmosphere found in St. Tropez or Monaco, and Pink Elephant on a Saturday night comes as close as anything I’ve seen. Every now and then you just want to hit a club that has smoke machines and plays all of Euro’s greatest techno club hits, and for those moments, Pink Elephant is the place to be. Because we had only been to 3 nightclubs in one night, we felt that before going home we really needed to hit up a 4th, so we headed to Tenjune before making it to bed by 3:30am. I awoke on Sunday hurting, but managed to get my act together in time to head to church and meet friends Nick Hobbs, Kathryn Bohanon, and Nick Papanicalou at Le Colonial for a fantastically fun dinner. Am now at the office wishing today was that extra day in my 8 day week. And… Before I forget, I must mention this this past Thursday I attended a party for Moschino at Bergdorf Gooman, and happened to meet Chris Klein who happens to look a lot like… Baby Suri. Just some food for thought, girls. And last but not least… we have a new HOLLYWOULD CUSTOMER OF THE MONTH! This month’s award goes to Laura Wells of NYC for looking so divine in our Geo Halter dress. For being so fabulous she’ll receive a gift certificate to our store for $100! If you would like to be our next HOLLYWOULD CUSTOMER OF THE MONTH, send a photo of yourself in HOLLYWOULD to shop@ilovehollywould.com today! October 20th 2006 It’s taken me 3 days to recover and I’m still deaf in one ear, but my Tuesday night seriously rocked. I had been invited out by Moet Hennessey’s genius The evening began with drinks at the NYC headquarters of Moet Hennessey, which as you can imagine, is a very good place to have cocktails. I don’t usually love mixed drinks unless they involve umbrellas & fruit shish-kabobs, so when Mark recommended I try a “Hennessy Shanghai”, I’ll admit I was skeptical. Needless to say, after a few rounds at company headquarters I was completely converted, and ready to head to our next destination for another From there we all headed downtown to Capitale in a motorcade of black Escalades, which is definitely the best way to arrive at a Kanye West show. The party was packed with a fabulously curated guest list, including music industry A-listers, dreamy heartthrob Euan McGregor, and our favorite HOLLYWOULD girl, Vanessa Manillo. We love you Vanessa! The show began with the amazingly talented and stylish Goldenfrapp, who was decked out in a gold fringe dress and stage set that seemed to be inspired by a cross between Blondie and Star Trek. Amazing. Then came The Strokes, who rocked the stage and who Leslie and I decided we want to marry. Leslie is already married so this could pose a problem, but since I am not, I see no obstacles whatsoever. Then came Kanye West, who had all of us screaming like teenagers within 5 seconds of appearing on stage, and then, to make matters worse, stone cold fox Pharrel came out half way through the show as a surprise guest, which lead to waves of screaming and fainting amongst all the ladies in the crowd. Too hot for TV. Despite the fact that I had planned to have an early evening, by the time the show ended at 1:30am we were all ready for an afterparty, which is why it’s taken me so long to recover this week. Big shout out to Moet Hennessey for the awesome show, and please keep us on your guest list for the next soiree. And last but not least, girls, make sure you sign-up on: http://www.dailycandy.com/ today if you’re one of the few girls who haven’t already. The editors at Daily Candy scour your local city to bring you news on all the latest shops, restaurants and happenings, and if you check out the "deals" section this week...you just might find some HOLLYWOULD! This time last week all of NYC was decked out in flip-flops and sundresses, and now it’s turned Arctic cold, forcing everyone into boots, coats, scarves and wool hats. While I do love the sunshine there is something fun about Fall, and knowing that it isn’t going to be bikini weather anytime soon is definitely motivation to get the full cold weather wardrobe in gear. With all of the above in mind, you can now buy HOLLYWOULD online all over the globe, so you don’t have to leave your house in the cold! Just visit any of the fabulous sites below and you’ll be ready for winter in a flash: And, for those of you loyal HOLLYWOULD-lovers, when next visiting this site you can not only shop online, but can also visit us by entering www.hollywould.com instead of www.ilovehollywould.com. We adore it when you declare your love for HOLLYWOULD, but it’s no longer necessary unless you really feel the need. Well girls, when we last communicated I was heading off to To make my time there all the more entertaining, also staying at The Ritz were Katie Holmes Cruise, The Olsen Twins, Anna Wintour, and the most mesmerizing of all… Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice. Like any girl with an ounce of intellect, I am fascinated by Posh Spice, so as you can imagine I was overjoyed to actually get to meet her while doing my lipstick in the Ritz lobby bathroom. Now that Posh and I have bonded over Nars lipgloss, I have to say that in person she is extraordinarily nice, cute and normal, and does not look too thin or constantly pucker her lips, except when putting on gloss. J’adore le Posh. While locked up at the Ritz I also received visits from old friends like Polina Aranova, Lars Nilsson, Bun & Sedonie, and Gerald Schmorl, who are all fabulous slaves to fashion and trés trés chic. Nights were spent with pals sipping $45 cocktails at the Ritz’s Hemingway Bar and hitting fashion week parties like Purple Magazine’s disco-dancing party at Le Baron. Oh la la. Just when I was about to permanently switch nationalities, my suite at The Ritz expired, and I was headed back to NYC. Not one to spend too much time recovering from jet-lag, I was out by Tuesday night hitting back-to-back parties for Ashley Judd at H.Stern (am in love with the diamond chain bracelet…if anyone is wondering), Elite Traveler magazine (would love a vacation at any of those Raffles Hotels…if anyone is wondering), and the opening exhibit for the new “Eye of Europe” show at the Museum of Modern Art (Grayson Perry's Map of An Englishman would look great on my wall…just FYI). Last night’s evening began at the star-studded Saks Fifth Avenue party co-hosted with InStyle Magazine to benefit their new Key to the Cure campaign for cancer research. Party guests included the gorgeous Angie Harmon, Rosario Dawson, Jason Lewis, Erika Christensen, Zoe Saldana, Erika Christensen, Olivia Wilde, Elizabeth Banks, Collin Cowey, Alana de la Garza, Sarah Wynter, etc, etc, etc. Needless to say, the Key to The Cure cause brought out more stars than the Oscars, and the party was a huge success. If you want to support the cause by getting one of their pink bow t-shirts (which are really, really cute), you can buy one at your local The biggest news of the evening, including all of the stars mentioned above, was that yours truly won the big raffle prize of a $5000 gift certificate to Saks Fifth Avenue. As you can imagine, I am heading straight to Saks today to claim my prize, and I have already decided I want it to be the least practical thing in the store. Next time you see me I hope to be wearing a pink fur helmet with matching chinchilla socks. Thank you Saks! October 3rd 2006 Am off to The girls pictured in pearls are some of our favorite HOLLYWOULD girls, Morgan White, Kari Talley, and Leslie Smith, who showed up at a party wearing… gasp… our matching pearl print “ October 2nd 2006 Ciao from Italia. I just got this email from one of our favorite jet-set socialite customers and I had to share it with you: Holly, I am sorry that I couldn't come to your fashion show, thank you so much for the invitation though. I have been checking the new collection out now online and it looks great! The reason I am e-mailing you, is that I bought 3 long sundresses at your last sale. I have worn these dresses in I have a few designer friends, and I wear their great designs a lot, but I have NEVER had so many compliments in my life. And they didn't say you look great, they were talking about the dresses. I have even had men ask me the label, so their girlfriends (even future girlfriends) could wear Hollywould dresses. I don't know you well, but I think you are very talented, and these dresses have been phenomena unto their own! I just had to let you know, because if I had designed them, I would want to know. Really is so cool. Yours, Miss X She is absolutely fabulous. At the risk of sounding like your local dry cleaners, We Love Our Customers! Thank you so much “Miss X” – you rule! In other news it’s been Milan Fashion Week here in |
